Press Release - Dublin, Ireland (19th April, 2018)
TestReach, providers of a computer-based assessment solution that transforms how organisations create and deliver tests and exams, today announced that their client, The Nautical Institute in London, has been named the winner of the “Excellence in Export” award in the 2018 annual E-Assessment Awards. The awards honour those organisations who are blazing a trail in changing the way that examinations are run, and the export award specifically recognises organisations who have delivered innovative and effective programmes in one or more countries outside of their main country of operation.
“We’re delighted to be recognized among the pioneers in the field of e-assessment,” said Captain John Lloyd, CEO of The Nautical Institute. “Working with the team at TestReach, we have transformed the way that the Institute delivers exams to our membership base of maritime professionals. These members are, by the nature of their employment, a very mobile audience located all over the world, which presents unique challenges in running certification exams.”
Research shows that despite developments in the world of e-learning, the majority of exams still require exam papers to be printed, with all the logistical headaches of moving around papers securely. Companies like TestReach are driving technological advances in how examinations can be run online, and for The Nautical Institute, this means delivering exams on computers throughout a global network of around 100 training centres. “Our worldwide centres can enrol candidates and schedule exams, but access to the full exam paper is restricted to our headquarters in London, which increases the security of exam papers and results,” said Lloyd. “Eradicating paper-based exams has had a transformative effect on the amount of administration involved for us, and we can access data and reports easily, while at the same time really improving the candidate experience,” he added.
“New technologies are making it possible to run secure exams anywhere in the world, at any time, for any number of candidates,” said Sheena Bailey, CEO at TestReach. “I’m delighted to see The Nautical Institute being recognised for their achievement and we’re looking forward to bringing even more flexibility to how their exams can be delivered – even investigating at the possibility of exams being run on board ships at sea.”
Award winners were selected by the E-Assessment Judging panel, which is comprised of forward-thinking leaders in e-learning and e-assessment industries. To become a finalist, companies must show achievement in innovation, talent development and social responsibility. Winners were announced at the E-Assessment Awards Gala in London, 18th April, 2018.
